2012 Gulf Coast Chapter General Meetings

January 28, 2012 in Professional Building 2, Learning Center B from 10 -12

Join us as we welcome, Patricia McMahon, RMT, BS, as she shares an "Overview of Pediatric Heart Surgery Vocabulary for the level II transcriptionist."  Lecture will include diagnoses of congenital heart disease, diagnostic tools, surgery vocabulary, medical management, and surgical and postsurgical complications.  Emphasis will be on vocabulary not encountered in transcription training texts/courses.

In addition, we also will enjoy a web presentation entitled "Is Evidence-Based Medicine a Barrier to Cost-Effective Care"? presented by Alan Garber, MD, PhD, professor of medicine and the director of the Center for Health Policy and of the Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research at Stanford University.  Dr Garber discusses the importance of distinguishing between a treatment's effectiveness and its value, and in turn what role evidence-based medicine should play in today's coverage decisions.
